Name Ingredients:

Piperine is an alkaloid found in black pepper, giving it its characteristic spiciness. It is used in hair loss treatments as it is believed to stimulate hair growth by enhancing the absorption of certain nutrients and promoting blood circulation to the scalp.

Key insights:

  • Piperine has a number of properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and analgesic activity, which may be beneficial to hair regrowth.
  • Piperine has been found to increase the bioavailability of different drugs, ranging from 30-200%, which may aid in improving the efficacy of other hair loss treatments.
  • The only clinical study that we could find using a mixed preparation of piperine, capsaicin, and curcumin in the treatment of alopecia areata. Sixty patients were enrolled, and were split into two groups (mixed preparation – twice daily, or 5% minoxidil – once daily). The mixed preparation group and the minoxidil group showed comparable regrowth. It is not possible to determine the positive effects of piperine as it was mixed with other ingredients.
  • Our experience tracking members: piperine is not enough by itself to improve hair loss outcomes
