Name Ingredients:
L-methionine is an essential amino acid, meaning the body does not produce it but must be acquired (through diet). Its key roles in the body include the production of proteins and antioxidants (glutathione), but it is also believed to strengthen hair and promote growth.
Key insights:
- The in vitro evidence suggests that l-methionine improves the viability of mohair hair follicles, with one study showing that l-methionine supplementation caused elongation of hair shafts. However, this has not been replicated in human hairs.
- There do not appear to be any in vivo or clinical studies investigating the effects of l-methionine on hair growth.
- Our experience tracking members: l-methionine alone is insufficient to improve hair loss outcomes.
