Name Ingredients:
Apple cider vinegar is a type of vinegar made with crushed apples, yeast, and sugar. Whilst not associated with treating hair loss, traditionally apple cider vinegar has been used to treat dandruff and for making hair shine.
Key insights:
- Apple cider vinegar has antimicrobial properties which may help with certain types of hair loss (such as dandruff-related) however it may also increase the risk of other types of hair loss linked to P. acnes overgrowth.
- The low pH of apple cider vinegar may contribute to ceramide production in the scalp which plays a major role in the antimicrobial defense of scalp skin.
- It’s important to note that there have been no clinical studies to confirm these potential benefits in human hair.
- The in vivo evidence (in mice) suggests that oral apple cider vinegar may reduce oxidative stress – which may also benefit hair growth. This however has not been tested in the context of hair follicle growth or humans.
- There is no other data to suggest that apple cider vinegar can treat hair loss disorders.
- Our experience tracking members: apple cider vinegar by itself is not enough to improve hair loss outcomes.
