L-Glycine

Rob (PHH)

Name Ingredients:

Glycine is a non-essential amino acid that makes up 33% of collagen. Collagen is important for hair growth as it has been shown to change dynamically (increase and decrease) alongside the growing (anagen) phase of the hair follicle cycle. Glycine is used in many supplements and is thought to help repair and thicken damaged hair.

Key insights:

  • The in vitro evidence suggests that glycine is essential for proper collagen synthesis, which may therefore benefit hair follicle growth, however this hasn’t been shown in humans.
  • The clinical evidence suggests that an L-glycine treatment can improve hair follicle density, and volume, and reduce telogen shedding in patients with androgenetic alopecia, however this formulation also contains ingredients such as caffeine that can also improve hair loss outcomes.
  • Our experience tracking members: glycine by itself is not enough to improve hair loss outcomes.
