Copper Peptides (GHK-Cu)

Rob (PHH)

Name Ingredients:

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Copper peptides are naturally found in the human body, and they combine copper with amino acids. Thought to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, GHK-Cu is commonly used in skincare products and is also sold as part of a dual treatment with Carbon 60 for hair growth.

Key insights:

  • The in vitro evidence suggests that GHK-Cu has anti-inflammatory properties which may benefit hair loss outcomes.
  • Other copper peptides such as AHK-Cu have been shown in vitro to enhance the expression of growth factors like vascular endothelial growth factor in dermal papilla cells. Treatment of isolated human hair follicles also resulted in enhanced growth and reduced cell death of dermal papilla cells – however, this hasn’t been shown in humans.
  • The only clinical data that we could find was based on 45 patients with male pattern hair loss, in which no statistically significant difference in hair length and hair thickness was found after 6 months of treatment.
  • Our experience tracking members: copper peptide (GHK-Cu) by itself is not enough to improve hair loss outcomes.
