Microneedling

Rob (PHH)

Name Ingredients:

Microneedling involves using a dermaroller or a microneedling device to create tiny punctures in the scalp. This stimulates blood flow and collagen production. The micro-injuries prompt natural healing processes, potentially promoting hair regrowth.

Key insights:

  • The ex vivo evidence suggests that microneedling improves the permeation of drugs into the scalp, which can improve hair growth.
  • The in vivo evidence has shown that repeated microneedling can improve hair growth in mice, as well as induce the expression of key genes involved in hair cyclings, such as Wnt3a, β-catenin, vascular endothelial growth factor, and Wnt10b.
  • The clinical evidence has shown that microneedling can be effective at inducing hair follicle growth. Furthermore, it enhances the effects of other drugs when used in combination, and its effects can be observed even after stopping the treatment.
  • Microneedling has also been shown to upregulate sulfotransferase enzymes, which can improve the efficacy of minoxidil.
